Meerin heppaverhot
Meerin parvisänky saatiin valmiiksi jo ennen joulua, mutta vielä tarvittiin jotain peittämään uusi vaatekaappi sängyn alla. Pitkän pohdiskelun jälkeen siihen kiinnitettiin kaksi verhokiskoa, joihin ompelin vaaleat heppaverhot.
Sain hyviä vinkkejä verhojen ompeluun kangaskaupasta, josta kankaan hommasin.
Ohjeet:
Verhojen sivureunat
- Joidenkin kankaiden sivureunat ovat valmiiksi niin siistejä ettei käännöksiä tarvitse tehdä.
- Jos sivureunat eivät ole siistit, kannattaa niihin tehdä 2 cm + 2 cm taitos (kangas on kolminkerroin).
Verhojen yläreuna
- Yläreunaan taitetaan 3,5 cm + 3,5 cm käänne (kangas on kolminkerroin).
- Siihen kannattaa ommella rypytysnauha, jos käyttää nipsuripustusta. Nipsut jäävät osittain verhojen taakse piiloon ja lopputulos näyttää siistimmältä.
Verhojen alareuna
- Verhot laskeutuvat kauniimmin kun niihin laitetaan painot.
- Verhojen alapäärmettä ommeltaessa kulmiin ommellaan taskut, joihin verhopainot pujotetaan.
- Alareunaan ommellaan 8 cm + 8 cm käänne (kangas on kolminkerroin).

Huom.
Verhokangasta ostettaessa päärmeet on lisättävä ostettavaan pituuteen: verhon lopullinen pituus + yläpäärme + alapäärme.
Horse curtains for Meeri
Meeri's loft bed was ready already before the Christmas, but something was still needed for covering the new wardrobe under it. After a long thinking we bought two curtain rails for it and I sewed white horse curtains for hiding the wardrobe.
I got some good tips how to sew curtains from the fabric shop where I bought the fabric.
Instructions:
Selvage edges of the curtains
- With some fabrics selvage edges are finished so neatly, that no sewing is needed.
- But if the selvage edges are not so neat, you may want to make 2 cm + 2 cm fold into those (fabric is then three folded)
Top hem of the curtain
- Fold 3.5 cm + 3.5 cm hem to the top of the curtain (fabric is then three folded).
- Sew a shirring tape to the hem, if you are using clip rings. Clip rings are partially hidden behind the curtains and the final curtain will look much better.
Lover hem of the curtain
- Curtains will look much better if curtain weights are used.
- When sewing the lover hem also sew pockets to both corner, curtain weights will be set into those pockets.
- Fold 8 cm + 8 cm hem to the lover hem of the curtain (fabric is then three folded).

When buying the fabric for curtains, also hems needs to be taken into consideration: Final length of the curtain + top hem + lower hem.
